Anil Ranjit is a photographer and visual storyteller who believes that a story should be told only when it’s ready to be seen and heard. Through photography, he seeks not only to capture the surface of a moment but to reveal the deeper, often unseen truths behind it.
Storytelling through visual media—especially photography—has become a powerful way to expose layers of reality that often go unnoticed. Whether it’s a haunting account of human struggle or a fleeting, joyful moment in history, these stories matter. They are never cliché when presented with sincerity. For Anil, internal conflicts and emotional resonance with his subjects have only strengthened his resolve to use photography for the greater good.
In today’s world, where human choices lie at the center of most global and local crises, photographers often find themselves navigating these moments without allegiance—compelled to witness, to feel, and to record. Photography becomes not just an art form but a responsibility: a way to capture slivers of time and truth to share with a wider audience.
Originally from Kathmandu, Nepal, Anil is now based in Washington, DC. He holds a Master’s degree from the Corcoran School of Art and Design, and spent a formative year at Pathshala South Asian Media Institute, a leading photography institute in South Asia. His work has been featured in both Nepal and the United States, reflecting his cross-cultural perspective. He was honored with an Honorable Mention in the 2018 International Photographic Awards and received a consolation award in a national photography competition in Nepal.
With every image he creates, Anil continues to explore the delicate balance between observation and empathy, between storytelling and truth.
